Ongoing, REBUILDING HOMES IN THE ROCKAWAY'S

Friends of Rockaway in conjunction with the St. Bernard Project and Americorps NCCC has begun free, needs based, rebuilding of homes on the Rockaway Peninsula.

We are currently looking for volunteers that are willing to come put in a hard days work, want to learn a new skill and don't mind getting a little dirty.

Our days start at 9am and end at 4:30pm. We recommend you bring a lunch and water and a tool belt if you have one sitting around. We will have all of the tools you need here but if you have a favorite hammer feel free to bring it.

We can't do the work we are doing without the volunteers that are coming through our door. We hope to see you soon!

Requirements:

It's important that you are physically capable of lifting up to 50lb's all day. Possibly up and down stairs. Familiarity with power tools would be a plus but not a must. But it's important that you are comfortable and willing to learn how to use at least a drill and possibly a circular saw. We will provide training in the morning based on the work that we are doing that day and we are happy to answer all questions and demonstrate a skill until everyone is comfortable with the scope of work.

We will also provide hard hats, masks, gloves and eye protection when needed.
Days/Times: M-F, 9am-4:30pm, ongoing
